Dear Friends and Fellow Members:

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter in the wake of the death of my dear friend, and former Chairman, Mayor David Dinkins. The news of his passing has brought great sadness but deep appreciation to a man who was known by many for his dedication and contribution to our community and this country. Mayor Dinkins was a trailblazer, and a leader who stood for the voiceless and marched for Justice and Equality.

He protested for many, as he recalled being arrested only twice in his lifetime. Once for the freedom of Nelson Mandela and the second time for the killing of my late son Amadou Diallo.

As a mom and a friend, he has left a mark that will never be forgotten. He not only touched my heart, but he continued to champion the Amadou Diallo Foundation’s mission wherever he could, and for that we say thank you!

We are grateful to his contribution and efforts towards our vision at the ADF.

On behalf of the Amadou Diallo Foundation and the entire Board, we extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Dinkins’ family and the entire community and constituents of New York for this loss.

He will be missed immensely.

With regards,

Kadiatou Diallo, President
The Amadou Diallo Foundation
